Day 2 - Loch Toftingall to Goldspie

31/08/2009
The sunrise over Toftingall was stageringly beautiful, the way the light came over the trees and hit the water. Would have been a perfect start to the day had it not been for the legendary midges. Within minutes of myself and Dan getting out of our tents we were full on attacked! The problem was so bad that we had to forget about breakfast and get everything packed up.

We had a fair few miles to cover so we decided to leave breakfast until we were on a few miles. The first destination was a little settlement called The Glutt which turned out to be primarily a hunting lodge, it even had a little caged off falconary with the birds perched on chunks of wood. Just before that we came across a strange old house that just seemed to have been left in a hurry, there was still furniture in the lounge but had not beem lived in for decades. It was a nice spot with a cracking view so we stopped to fuel up. Nice spot of freeze dried muesli and a cup of tea and we were off.

From The Glutt we then headed back towards the east coast, the days trails had so far been excellent and nice and flat to ease us in to the day to day.

From there we ended up in Dunbeath and headed along the A9 (no other option unfortunately), this was not much fun but we covered a fair few miles, although very hilly, and arrived in Brora in good time. In fact such good time we squezzed in a curry before setting up camp. A quick search for a site to camp turned up a great spot by the sea in between 2 fields. End of day 2.
