Day 1 - London - John o' Graots by train and taxi

The start of my adventure started in Euston where I borded the 21:15 Caldonian Sleeper train to Wick via Inverness. It's one of those things I have wanted to do for ages and was easily the best way to get to my start point. Myself and Dan had a cabin with bunks booked so dropped our stuff in the room (got it right second time around) and once the train got moving we snuck into the first class lounge and had a few pints before getting an early night. We went to sleep somewhere north of the midlands and woke up in the Cairngorns, magic.

we arrived in Inverness a little before 09:00 where we had a couple of hours to kill before getting the train to Wick. This train is slow but has some great view of the highlands to make up for it. We sat down for a late lunch and watched some of the local lads playing a gig for the town, let's say they had varying degrees of talent.

To make things easy on ourselves we decided to get a taxi to the start of the task which was John o' Groats. Once there we managed to blag our way out of paying the incumbent photographer for taking a photo of us with the fanous sign, which is his property apparently. Anyway after a small amount of weirdness he took the photo with my compact camera and we were off to find our bed for night.
